- Minimum one year of relevant work experience (resumé required).
- Candidates will be accepted based on the combination of relevant education and work experience.

Program Learning Outcomes
The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to:
- Document business processes using effective and established research and documentation methods and business improvement procedures.
- Manage the requirements elicitation and analysis activities throughout the requirements process for changes to a business system.
- Analyze the information collected during the requirements elicitation to identify gaps and define the capabilities of an acceptable solution using appropriate methods, tools, techniques and documentation.
- Document business requirements in accordance with standard business practices.
- Communicate the results of business requirements analysis and documentation to a broad and diverse audience using appropriate communication tools and styles.
- Develop test strategies to ensure that business requirements and stakeholder objectives for changes to a business system are met.
- Apply negotiation and problem-solving skills to build effective stakeholder alignment.

- Two-year or three-year college diploma or bachelor’s degree in computer science, commerce, engineering or related field from an accredited institution*.
- Minimum one year of relevant work experience (resumé required).
- Candidates will be accepted based on the combination of relevant education and work experience.
English Language Proficiency
- Applicants with international transcripts who do not provide English proficiency test results must test at the college level in the George Brown Polytechnic English assessment to be considered for admission.

Program Overview
The one-year Information Systems Business Analysis graduate certificate program answers the urgent need for professionals who can help bridge the gap between business and information technology functions within an organization. As a proud Academic Member of the International Institute of Business Analysis, we’ll prepare you to write the Entry Certificate in Business Analysis™.
If you’re an IT or business professional wanting to enter a business analyst role or a practitioner who wants to enhance your skill set with formal education, this intensive program is for you.
Full Description
Over the past decade, information technology has exploded in businesses, pushing business analysts and IT consultants into the spotlight across government, finance, health care and telecommunications sectors. These professionals are key players in software development, collecting business needs and turning them into technical plans that IT teams can execute. These analysts and IT consultants are often critical for boosting project success rates.
In the one-year Information Systems Business Analysis graduate certificate program, you’ll develop a deeper understanding of the business analyst role through unique learning techniques and invaluable practical experience. Our team of business analyst consultants and faculty will support you as you develop critical skills and competencies in the areas of:
- problem identification
- documenting and analyzing user requirements
- process and workflow modelling
- communication and facilitation
- project management
- technical writing
- leadership and management
- decision-making
A vital characteristic of this program is the applied nature of the curriculum. You’ll be immersed in business analysis through case studies of real-world business issues, which you’ll use to develop innovative solutions. Our program offers applied, hands-on experience, transforming you into an actual business analyst rather than just someone who knows how to do it.
Delivery
- This full-time program is delivered in a blended format, combining face-to-face sessions with online delivery.
- You will generally meet late afternoons, evenings, and weekends. This delivery format accommodates those who wish to work while taking this program.

Academic Membership in the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) offers colleges and universities with Business Analyst curriculums and care about advancing the BA profession within their student population the opportunity to participate in IIBA membership and benefit from IIBA’s other products and services. Students who graduate from this program will be prepared to write the IIBA Entry Certification of Business Analysis designation from the International Institute of Business Analysis. This professional designation recognizes the student’s theoretical understanding of the Business Analyst Body of Knowledge (BABOK) and the context of business analysis applied across industries.
